HILLYER, MD President and CEO, New York Blood Center Enterprise Christopher D. Hillyer, MD is President and CEO, New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe); General Partner, NYBC Ventures; Chief Scientific Officer and Distinguished Investigator, Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute; and Professor, Department of Medicine, Weill Cornell College of Medicine. An internationally recognized expert in hematology, transfusion and transplantation, and cellular and related therapies, Dr. Hillyer brings a unique combination of vision, executional experience, and proven success as a business executive, scientist, board member, and global leader. During his tenure, Hillyer has transformed NYBCe into a $550M+/yr multi-faceted life sciences organization with global reach and worldwide recognition for its high humanitarian impact, R&D, and commercialization strategies. Today, NYBCe serves 50M+ people and 600+ hospitals, research organizations, academic institutions, and biomedical companies in nearly 45 countries. Dr. Hillyer has served on numerous for-profit and not-for-profit boards; many NIH study sections; and held national leadership positions including President, Board of Directors of AABB, Trustee, National Blood Foundation, and associate editor, TRANSFUSION. Dr. Hillyer has been awarded ~$70M in research funding from the NIH, CDC, and other agencies, including T, U, R01, and P01 grants; received two iterative Tiffany Awards from the American Red Cross for his work in Africa, part of the President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). He co-founded Transfusion & Transplantation Technologies, Inc. (3Ti), HemeXcel Purchasing Alliance, and HemeXcel Resources, and holds multiple patents. Dr. Hillyer is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, medical oncology and transfusion medicine. Prior to becoming Mayor, Bramson served for ten years on the New Rochelle City Council. Bramson has been at the forefront of efforts to strengthen New Rochelle’s economy, environment, safety, and quality of life. He has worked successfully to forge public-private partnerships aimed at job creation and economic growth, culminating in the most ambitious downtown development initiative in New Rochelle’s history. He has been a strong advocate for thoughtful community planning, including the creation of New Rochelle’s award-winning Sustainability Plan, efforts to establish new public access to the Long Island Sound shore, approval of new land use policies to preserve open space, and adoption of the City’s largest-ever capital and infrastructure investment. In addition, Bramson has worked in concert with public safety professionals to bring New Rochelle’s crime rate down to a fifty-year low. A strong and effective advocate for his city, Bramson has secured grants for the enhancement of major transportation corridors and the rehabilitation of New Rochelle’s playing fields. In 2018, under Bramson’s leadership, New Rochelle was awarded the coveted $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative by New York State, and was also chosen by Bloomberg Philanthropies as one of just nine cities nation-wide to receive a $1 million grant for innovation. In 2013, Bramson won the Democratic nomination for Westchester County Executive, but lost the general election to Republican incumbent Rob Astorino. During his campaign, Bramson advocated a regional strategy for economic growth and shared services, while emphasizing his support for reproductive rights and sensible gun safety laws. From 1992 to 2012, Bramson maintained a professional relationship with Congresswoman Nita Lowey, with whom he worked on both governmental and political challenges. Bramson is a life-long Westchester resident and a product of the New Rochelle public schools. Bramson went on to Harvard University, where he completed his undergraduate degree in three years, and then received a Masters degree in Public Policy. Bramson has served in leadership roles in numerous civic organizations.
